My opinion, for what it's worth, is that the only time to visit Athabasca Falls is durng the winter. The reason is obvious, in the summer, the place is awash with hordes of tourists. The best large waterfalls in the Jasper/Banff parks to visit in summer are the lower Sunwapta Falls (Nikon FE2, Nikon Series E 100mm , f2.8.).
